Diptych

Lukas De Clerck has been studying the aulos, one of the most important instruments in Ancient Greek musical culture, for years. An aulos has two playing pipes with a double reed, and De Clerck has now built his own variant that is telescopic. Sarah Davachi composed ‘Diptych’ for aulos and viola, playing subtly with sound shifts and microtonality, on the borderline between dissonance and harmony.
