Two Systems

Lowie Vercammen, accordion
Louis De Backere, accordion

Two Systems constitutes the accordion duo consisting of Lowie Vercammen and Louis De Backere. Two best friends who both completed their studies in classical accordion with highest distinction at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent with Philippe Thuriot. As a duo, they have been active since 2018 and have played a large series of concerts.

With a passion for both the timeless elegance of classical compositions, and the unheard gems of contemporary compositions, they are always able to draw audiences into their accordion repertoire in their own way. As a duo, they try to enthuse new composers to write new music.

After several years of making music together, Two Systems decided to take part in various competitions for the first time in 2023. In March 2023, Lowie and Louis took part in the international NOVAM Competition. There they took first prize in the chamber music division. Both of them also won the solo category in this competition, in 2022 and 2023. Continuing on this momentum, in 2023 and 2024 they also achieved the podium at the international accordion competition Accordeon-Nous.org, which is organised annually in Bergen (BE) and attracts the cream of the accordion world. In 2023, they became semi-finalists at Supernova, chamber music competition organised by Klara and Musiq3. In September 2024, they were 3rd laureate in Castelfidardo, Italy, in the chamber music section of the world accordion championship, Coupe Mondiale.
